Let’s face it, we are all in need of some aspect of restoration. The beauty of recognizing our need is that it initiates growth in a specific area of our lives. When this happens, there is the potential for life transformation. (Romans 12:1,2). And we can be confident of this very thing, "that He who began a good work in us will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus." (Phil 1:6) When we are faithful to plant and till in peoples lives it is God's job to cause their growth! This gives us the freedom not to pressure others into transformation; but with healthy boundaries and the power of His love and word, the Lord will change their lives!
Before I came to Mission, I was a horrible person who cared for no one, not even myself. People were just pieces on a chess board, whose only value was what I could get out of them. Everyone was expendable. All that mattered were my addictions: drugs, alcohol, sex, violence. I took anything I could get my hands on so that I didn’t have to deal with me.
So after 22 years on a path of destruction, God found me in the woods, high on meth. He told me, ‘no more’, which angered me greatly. I couldn’t get high anymore. So after three hours of cursing God at the top of my lungs, I calmed down and asked Him what He wanted me to do. He told me to go The Mission. So I did. I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior, got involved with Genesis, Job Training and the New Life Foundations Program. Over the past year I have received a solid foundation in my walk with God and acquired new job skills.

Hi, my name is Jennifer and I am here today by the mighty grace of my Heavenly Father!! I am a living breathing example of his healing love and power. I have a very extensive addiction history (over 30 years), habits of destruction, and my life before Jesus was absolutely out of control. Five and a half years ago I found myself in prison, one with bars and razor wire, and one of my own self. Jesus took hold of my heart, he sought me so hard, and yes, He won. Thank you Jesus for never giving up on me.
My life since has been an incredible journey of redemption, reconciliation, and recovery. God has shown me what it really means to live, and has grown me more in these last 5 short years than I ever have in my life before. He has given me family back, he has strengthened and healed the relationship between me and my son (who has also been to prison and has also come to Jesus), given me 2 beautiful granddaughters who are healthy and happy and growing up knowing Jesus loves them. If that is not enough, He has equipped me and given me hope, and a future, with vision and a desire along with willingness to follow Him all the way.
I am blessed to be not only be a part of the Sunshine Rescue Mission as an organization, but I am working my dream, encouraging and motivating women to make better choices for their lives and for the lives of their children. I am able to introduce Jesus to so many women who are as broken as I was such a short time ago. This is what I have dedicated the rest of my life to do, and God has brought me, exactly where He wants me, to serve the community He chose for me to serve. It is an honor and privilege to be a part of the New Hope Cottage team.
