Restoring Lives through Jesus Christ

Let’s face it, we are all in need of some aspect of restoration. The beauty of recognizing our need is that it initiates growth in a specific area of our lives. When this happens, there is the potential for life transformation. (Romans 12:1,2). And we can be confident of this very thing, "that He who began a good work in us will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus." (Phil 1:6) When we are faithful to plant and till in peoples lives it is God's job to cause their growth! This gives us the freedom not to pressure others into transformation; but with healthy boundaries and the power of His love and word, the Lord will change their lives!

Since 1957, the Christ-centered foundation of Sunshine Rescue Mission, Inc. has passionately Rescued lives from the streets. Created an environment of healthy Restoration from addictions and traumas; and provided opportunities to Re-Engage back into our community through volunteerism, mentoring and job training.

After a series of peaks and valleys caused by me doing it my way... I found myself at the lowest point ever. After finally opening my heart to God, he came to the rescue, giving me the time and the will to read His word and experience His teachings. He sent me willing and faithful mentors and teachers that helped reshape and restore what He wanted in me; to be able to re-engage in the world, transformed as one who serves, reaches out and helps others selflessly; to show God’s teachings by example; and to share what God gave to me and all His children. Currently I am the Assistant Director at The Mission...giving back from where I came!
-Ken

Until I found God in my life, and began living by His will and not my own, I led a life of complete chaos and self destruction. When at my lowest point and feeling there was no where left to turn. God pointed to the direction I needed to go; His direction. He opened the door to Hope Cottage as a foundation to build a new life upon.

Today I live by the saying, “Let go and let God!” I am living TODAY, not just existing! I am growing closer to God each day in my classes and through my relationship with others. My hope is to help others who have suffered for so long in the ways I have suffered and am not healing.

I want others to know that there are no external fixes for their problems; God is the only answer to start living and not just existing. He was been there for me and will always be waiting for you too…You just have to start letting Him inside and He will show you all that He has for you! Just like He did for me.
