RISE Program Mentor Guide

Our Heart
Model love and mercy in every interaction

Remember: “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:34-35

Not everyone chooses to grow spiritually—and that’s okay
It’s our hope everyone will meet Jesus here, but some may not be ready
Sometimes your role is simply to show the characteristics of Jesus and plant seeds
Wait for the prompting of the Holy Spirit—don’t force conversations

How to Show Up
Listen first—be present and respectful
Be future focused—help them look forward, not just at their past
Encourage growth without pressure

Support Their Growth
Each RISE participant has 3 domains they are working on
Check in on these regularly
Ask how they are progressing
Offer encouragement and accountability

Take Notes
Write down:
What you talked about
Any struggles they shared
Progress in their domains
This helps provide consistent support
Safety & Structure
Always follow program safety measures
Schedule time with someone specific or come into the Mission at 4:00 PM
Be clear about whether time together is onsite or offsite

Multiplication
We are here to encourage mentees to work toward their goals. We should also be encouraging those being mentored to eventually pour into someone else, helping guide and support others in their growth.

Final Reminder
You may not see the full impact of your time—but your presence, consistency, and care matter more than you know.
